Return to Treasure Island- Characters
Jim Hawkins – With much hard work and a little luck, Jim has built up his merchant shipping company yet his life is turned upside down by the American war of independence. Honest, generous, sympathetic and trustworthy – Jim is a gentleman determined to fight injustice and protect the innocent. With his return to Treasure Island and romance with Coral, once more his destiny involves Long John Silver…
Long John Silver – A legend in his own lifetime, Silver has ostensibly put aside his days of piracy and is now a rich and respected gentleman. He is also a widowed father to Coral and protective of his family. However, Silver is still an opportunist, devious, manipulative – and he must choose between self-interest and what is genuinely doing right for others…
Coral Silver – The daughter of Long John, Coral is quite unaware of her father’s shady past (deliberately on Silver’s part). She loves Silver very much and her cousin, Rose. Coral is romantic and innocent. She is naively enamoured of Savage but is soon attracted to Jim. She soon shows her willpower and stubborn side, much like her father.
Rose Silver – The orphaned cousin of Coral, Rose has been adopted by Long John who almost treats her as a second daughter. She is full of energy and fun and loves to play games and tricks on Coral. She becomes best friends with Jonah. Very innocent on one side, Rose is also brave and will need to be in the adventures that lay ahead…
Jonah – An orphan himself, Jonah has been forced to live alone and fight for himself due to his life so far as a slave. He is loyal to Jim when Jim saves his life. Jonah is determined and courageous. He knows slavery is wrong and wants to change the unjust system. Joining Jim Hawkins on his adventures, Jonah’s life is about to change forever…
Captain Savage – An archetypal naval officer, Savage looks and acts like a gentleman. Yet he is ruthless and harsh in pursuit of his goals – nothing and nobody can get in his way. Savage is determined to crack down on the American “rebels” and defend the British flag. He soon becomes obsessive about capturing Jim Hawkins and will seize him at whatever costs…
Patch – He is the pet dog of Jim Hawkins, who loves Patch to bits. Patch accompanies Jim wherever he goes – on land and on sea. He soon becomes a playmate for Rose and Jonah. Patch is kind and obedient. He is also a big dog and will show his teeth to defend Jim, which can intimidate anybody.
